AUGUSTA, GA – The Augusta University baseball team lost the lead late in a 13-9 defeat to Emmanuel College on Tuesday at Jaguar Field. Augusta is now 1-4 on the season while Emmanuel is 5-4. Augusta opens Peach Belt Conference play when they travel to Young Harris for a three-game weekend series.
Emmanuel trailed 4-3 in the top of the sixth inning when the visiting Lions doubled, scoring three runs. Augusta fell despite out-hitting the visiting team 17 to 15.
AU found themselves down 2-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning. A single from
Trevor Maddox scored
Mike Morrison. Newcomer
Kyle Lodise blasted a three-run homer in the fifth to bring the score to 4-2.
Emmanuel College took the lead for good with four runs in the sixth inning. Maddox would hit a homer to bring the score to 12-6 in the seventh.
A single from
Parker Ingram in the eighth inning sparked an offensive push in the eighth inning that would eventually stall out, with Augusta falling 13-9.

Jordan Wilkie each racked up multiple hits for AU . Lodise went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead the Jags.
JR Fordham got the start for Augusta, tossing 3.2 innings while allowing two runs. Brit Kelly took the loss for the home team after allowing two hits and two runs.
