AUGUSTA, GA– The Augusta University softball team (8-2) handed the No. 12 Anderson Trojans (10-2) its first two defeats to remain unbeaten at home for the 2023 season. The Jaguars began the day with a 4-1 win over Anderson before taking down he No. 12 ranked team 10-7 in the second game of the day

Bobbi Poff hit her third homer in three games to lead the way for Augusta scoring in the second inning. The Trojans only score of the game came off an Augusta error in the fourth inning. Poff again answered the call, reaching first on an error that scored Bailee Robert in the sixth inning.
Macy Poisal reached in a fielder choice that scored Poff and
Lauren Barrett, sealing the 4-1 victory.
Alissa Bolinger (4-1) pitched for the full 7 innings, allowing 4 hits for 1 run.
Augusta 10, Anderson 7
In the second game, Augusta struck first in the bottom of the third inning. Errors plagued the Trojans, but AU capitalized, taking a 2-0 lead in the inning. A 3 RBI triple put the visiting team up 4-2 in the second inning. A single from
Lauren Slade and a double from
Paige Patterson sparked a huge fourth inning that put the Jags ahead 5-5. After scoring a run in the fifth, Anderson would ack on two homer runs in the 6
th for a 7-5 advantage. In the bottom of the sixth, Paterson doubled, scoring
Grace Bridges and
Bailee Roberts singled and scored
Lauren Slade.
Lauren Evens hit one over the fence to seal the 10-7 Jaguar victory.
Ansley Gibson (W-1) got the win for AU, pitching five innings.
Hannah Turner came in to pitch the final two innings in relief.
Next Up
The Jaguars will face Belmont Abbey ton Saturday Feb 18 for a non-conference double header.
