AUGUSTA, Ga – The Augusta University baseball team defeated Georgia Southwestern 12-7 in the final game of the series Sunday afternoon. Augusta (3-8) is now 2-4 in PBC play. Georgia Southwestern is now 7-3, 4-2 in conference play.
There was plenty of action on the basepaths as Augusta collected 19 hits to Georgia Southwestern's 7
Georgia Southwestern opened scoring in the first inning off a three-run homer.
A sac fly from
Rushton Bowles in the second inning scoring
Pat Galvin and
Mike Morrison singled for two Augusta scores. In the bottom of the second inning, AU tied things up at three.
Koby Ayala grounded out, scoring one run.
The Jags pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning when
Parker Ingram singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.
Augusta would tally three runs in the seventh inning.
Kyle Lodise,
Harrison Aulds, and JBen Haynes each had RBIs in the frame.
JR Fordham pitched the home team to victory. Fordham surrendered five runs on five hits over 5.1 innings, striking out five.
Jasper Dubberly and
Turner Sircy entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Augusta socked one home run on the day. Aulds went deep in the fourth inning.
Augusta University Jaguars collected 19 hits on the day.
Koby Ayala,
Pat Galvin,
Jordan Wilkie,
Parker Ingram,
Harrison Aulds, and
Mike Morrison each managed multiple hits for AU. Ayala went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead the Jags in hits.
Augusta returns to action at home on Wednesday March 1st when they host defending national champion North Greenville at Jaguar Field. First pitch is slated for 2:00pm.
