BEAUFORT, SC– Augusta University softball team split a doubleheader with USC Beaufort Friday afternoon at Richard Gray Stadium.
The Jaguars won game one 8-5, while the Sand Sharks took game two 4-2. Augusta moves to 14-18, 1-13 PBC while USC Beaufort is now 9-24, 2-12 in conference play. The final game of the series has been shifted to an earlier time due to impending inclement weather. First pitch of the final game of the series is slated for 11am on Saturday March 25
GAME 1 – Augusta 8 USC Beaufort 5
- The Jaguars scored three times in the second and third innings and twice in the fourth inning.
- AU took a 3-0 lead off a sac fly to center field from Bobbi Poff.
- After scoring wo runs in the third off an error, Hayden Pearson contributed a run-scoring single in the third inning.
- Ansley Gibson singled for a 6-0 Jaguar lead
- Lauren Barrett added a 2 RBI double for an 8-0 Augusta advantage
- USC Beaufort scored five runs over the final three innings, but fell 8-5 to the visiting Jags
- Lauren Barrett led Augusta, going 3-for-3 with 2 runs and 2 RBI
- Bailee Roberts, Paige Patterson, and Ansley Gibson each carded two hits.
- Alissa Bolinger tossed 1.1 innings – Ansley Gibson (8-9) struck out a single bater in 4.0 innings, allowing 4 hits and 1 run. Hannah turner pitched he final 1.2 innings.
