AUGUSTA, Ga - The Augusta University baseball team dropped the final game of the series to Flagler Saturday afternoon. Augusta is now 13-15, 7-11 PBC while Flagler moves to 8-21, 4-11 PBC.
Augusta struck first, scoring two runs in the first inning. The first run came when
Harrison Aulds hit a sac fly to center field to score
Kyle Lodise. The Jags would capitalize on a wild pitch in the inning for the second run.
In the second inning, Lodise drilled an RBI single to left field for a 3-0 Augusta lead.
The Saints evened the score, carding a run in the third inning and two in the fourth before Augusta retook the lead on a single from
Pat Galvin that scored
Kyle LaRoche.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, a home run from
Parker Ingram stretched the lead to 5-3.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Galvin would double before
Jordan Wilkie's single sent him home for a 6-3 Augusta advantage.
The visiting team added a singe run in the seventh before exploding for five runs in the bottom of the eighth to seal the victory.
Pat Galvin and
Gavin Wright were both 3-for-5 to lead the Jaguar offense.
Kyle Lodise added 2 hits with 1 run and 1 RBI.
Logan Howell got the start for AU, He allowed 3 hits for 3 runs. After Howell's 3.2 innings of work,
Britt Kelly would toss for the next 3.0 innings, striking out 2 batters and allowing a single hit for 1 run.
Turner Sircy,
Jasper Dubberly, and
Brian Trepanier all saw time pitching in relief.
In what has become know as the Battle for the Paddle, Augusta takes on rival USC Aiken on Wednesday at SP Park in North Augusta. First pitch is at 6:35pm.
