Columbus, Ga - Mason Bernard didn't allow a single run against Columbus State, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Augusta to a 1-0 victory on Friday in the first game of the series. With the win, Augusta improves to 21-18, 12-13 in conference play while Columbus State is now 25-12, 13-10 in the Peach Belt.
Bernard (6-2) lasted all nine innings, allowing five hits and no runs while striking out three and walking one.
The single run of the game came at the top of the ninth when Koby Ayala grounded out to second base but scored Jordan Wilkie.
The Jaguars scattered seven hits in the game. Pat Galvin and Jordan Wilkie each had two hits to lead AU . Augusta didn't commit a single error in the field.
