COLUMBUS, Ga. – Augusta University baseball lost a pair of games at Columbus State in a Peach Belt Conference play this weekend at Burger King Stadium.
Columbus State improved to 26-12 overall and 14-10 in the Peach Belt. Augusta is now 21-20 overall and 11-15 in conference play.
In Saturday's contest, the Cougars used steady offense to score 11 runs while holding Augusta scoreless.
Jordan Wilkie,
Mike Morrison, and
Kyle Lodise each collected a hit for AU.
Jasper Dubberly (2-3) started on the mound for the Jags, tossing 3.2 innings allowing 4 hits for 5 runs while striking out 4 batters.
Cody Shieder,
Dominic Canale,
Brian Trepanier, and
Brandon Byler all saw time out of the bullpen.
In the Sunday game, Augusta fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 11-3 loss.
The Cougars jumped out to a 5-0 lead through the first two innings.
In the third inning, Augusta utilized a wild pitch to plate
Kyle Lodise.
Harrison Aulds accounted for the other two AU scores, using a double down the left field line to score Lodise in the sixth inning before grounding out and scoring
Trevor Maddox in the eighth inning.
Britt Kelly (2-6) got the start and took the loss for the visiting Jaguars. Kelly allowed three hits and two runs over one inning, walking one.
AU racked up seven hits.
Kyle Lodise and
Pat Galvin each managed two hits to lead the Jaguars.
Augusta baseball has a quick turnaround, hosting West Georgia for a single nonconference game on Tuesday at Jaguar Field. First pitch is slated for 3pm. Live stats and video will be available at augustajags.com
