AUGUSTA, Ga.- The Augusta University softball team (17-25, 4-20 PBC) dropped a three-game series to Young Harris (18-26, 10-14 PBC) this week at Jaguar Field. Augusta will wrap the regular season with a trip to Flagler April 22-23.
Game 1 – Augusta 1 Young Harris 3
Both teams were scoreless until the Mountain Lions hit a 2 RBI homer to center field for a 2-0 lead in the fifth. After an untimely error put a runner on first, a double from the visiting team extended the lead to 3-0.
Augusta would score its only run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Lauren Slade tripled and scored a run on the throw, closing scoring for the game.

Grace Bridges,
Sophie Baker, and
Shelbie Summerlin each carded a hit in the contest.
Ansley Gibson (9-13) got the start for Augusta, pitching 4.2 innings and allowing 3 hits for 3 runs while striking out 4.
Hannah Turner pitched the final 2.1 innings for Augusta.
Game 2 – Augusta 4 Young Harris 5
Young Harris opened the game with two runs in the first inning. In the bottom of the inning,
Bailee Roberts doubled with runners on first and second, scoring a Jaguar run.
In the next inning, Young Harris utilized two home runs to take a 4-1 lead
In the bottom of the second inning, a single from
Lauren Slade plated
Lauren Barrett. In the bottom of the third,
Bobbi Poff singles and
Sophie Baker doubled to start the inning.
Lauren Evens would follow with a 2 RBI double, evening the score at 4-4.
A sac fly from Young Harris in the final inning pushed them to a narrow victory in the first game of the day.
Bailee Roberts and
Lauren Evens were both 1-for-4 with 2 RBI to lead the Jags.
Hannah Turner got the start on the mound for Augusta, tossing the first 1.2 innings before
Alissa Bolinger (6-7) finished the final 5.1 innings of the game.
Game 3 - Augusta 2 Young Harris 8
The Jags were unable to cool the hot bats of the Mountain Lions in the final game of the series. Young Harris turned in three runs in the second inning and three runs in the fifth inning to jump out to a large early lead. The Jags' two scores in the game came off homers from
Bobbi Poff and Naveah Ross.
The Jaguars used three pitchers in the final game with
Maggie McBrayer getting the start and
Hayden Pearson (0-1) taking the loss.
