AUGUSTA, Ga- The Augusta University softball team wrapped a three game series against the visiting Georgia College Bobcats with a narrow 7-6 loss to the visiting team. Augusta is now 16-20, 3-15 PBC while Georgia College improves to 22-13, 9-9 PBC.

Georgia College used two home runs in the third inning for all six of it scores. The Bobcats' Owens hit a grand slam before Conland hit a 2 RBI homer over the hedges for a 6-0 lead.

Augusta immediately answered in the bottom of the third. Bailee Roberts hit a bases-loaded single to left field that scored Lauren Slade and forced a Georgia College pitching change.

Ansley Gibson would add another score an a sac fly that scored Grace Bridges. On the next at bat, Sophie Baker blasted a 3-run homer to bring the score to 6-5 and close scoring for the inning. 

Georgia College tacked on a run in the fourth inning before Lauren Barrett scored Gibson on a single up the middle for a run in the fifth inning. Georgia College would narrowly escape with a 7-6 win.

Hannah Turner (2-1) started on the bump for Augusta, striking out 2 and allowing 6 hits in her 2.2 innings of work. Ansley Gibson tossed the final 4.1 innings, only allowing a single hit.

Augusta returns to play with a midweek non-conference doubleheader at Claflin.
