Jaguars Drop Twin Bill to Pacers

AIKEN, SC - The Augusta University softball team lost both games of a doubleheader at USC Aiken Wednesday by scores of 9-7 and 8-0. Augusta is now 16-22, 3-17 PBC while the Pacers move to 17-25, 9-11 in conference play.
Augusta wraps the three game series on Thursday April 6 at 12:00pm.

The Pacers plated three runs in their half of the second frame before Augusta carded five runs in the top of the third inning.

With two down, Shelbie Summerlin singled to left field before Lauren Slade tripled on the next at bat to push Summerlin home. Grace Bridges then singled to score Slade. After Hayden Pearson walked, a single from Bailee Roberts evened the score at 3-3. Ansley Gibson doubled to right center field that drove in two runs and gave Augusta a 5-3 advantage.
USC Aiken immediately answered, utilizing a passed ball to spark a three-run inning.

In the top of the fifth inning, another double from Roberts pushed in a run to tie the game at 6-6 before Aiken took a one-run advantage in the bottom of the fifth. The Pacer added two more scores in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The Jags would add a run in the seventh inning but would fall 9-7 to the home team.

Grace Bridges went 3-for-4 to pace the AU offense. Bailee Roberts and Shelbie Summerlin both tallied two hits.

Hannah Turner started the game for the Jags. Ansley Gibson came in and tossed 5.2 frames with six strikeouts.

In the second game, USC Aiken used a 3 RBI homer to take an early advantage. Augusta was unable to cool the hot bats of the Pacers and fell 8-0 in a five-inning game.

The home team recorded 13 hits in the second game of the double-header. Bailee Roberts and Lauren Evens each had a hit for AU.

Hannah Turner (2-2) started on the bump for AU, pitching 1.1 innings. She allowed four hits before Alissa Bolinger came in for the final 3.1 innings, striking out two batters.
