Mirabel Ting Wins Southland Women's Golf Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, Three Jaguars Garner All-Conference Honors

FRISCO, Texas – Augusta University's Mirabel Ting was named the Southland Conference Women's Golf Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year as the conference's superlative awards and all-Conference teams were announced Thursday. Victoria Zheng and Napabhach Boon-In were also  named to the Southland All-Conference Team.

"Mirabel played exceptionally well this spring and is highly deserving of this recognition," said head Coach Caroline Haase-Hegg. "We are proud to represent the Southland and she is working hard to continue her fantastic play into the post season."

Ting led the Jaguars to their second consecutive Southland Championship and the NCAA Regional, while also becoming the first Southland woman named to the Arnold Palmer Cup team. Ting owns a 71.56 average score this season and is 10-5 against top 25 competition and 8-0 against players ranked 26th through 50th. Ting is also ranked No. 7 in the nation by Golfstat.com and No. 13 by Golfweek/Sagarin.

She has competed in six total events this spring and recorded five top-10 finishes - including a victory in her first collegiate tournament at the Moon Golf Invitational. She followed up with a T5 showing at the Vystar, T14 at the Valspar, T7 at Florida State, and a T6 showing to close the regular season in Chattanooga, Tenn., followed by runner-up honors at the SLC Championships. Ting is the first Jaguar to win Player of the Year and AU wins the Freshman of the Year for the second straight season.

Ting is the third player to win Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year in the same season, joining McNeese's Lisa Westman in 2004 and Lamar's Elodie Chapelet in 2017.

Ting is joined on the First Team All-Conference by HCU's Elise Parel, Southland tournament champion Alex Giles of UIW, A&M-Corpus Christi's Lucie Charbonnier, and UIW's Ellen Nicholas.

The second team is made up of UIW's Lily Hirst and Mar Garcia, HCU's Lou Rousselot, and Augusta's Napabhach Boon-In and Victoria Zheng.
