AUGUSTA, GA - Augusta University secured the spot in the 2023 Peach Belt Tournament with wins over USC Beaufort on Saturday at Jaguar Field. Augusta improves to 24-22 overall.
Prior to the second game of the day, seniors
Pat Galvin, Charlie Erickson, Cody Schieder,
Dominic Canale,
Jasper Dubberly,
Jared Martin, and
Brian Trepanier were all honored for baseball's 2023 Senior Day.
Game 1 – Augusta 17 USC Beaufort 4
AU got things started in the first inning when
Harrison Aulds' sac fly scored one run. Singles from
Rushton Bowles and
Koby Ayala helped give the home team a 6-0 lead in the first inning.
Augusta pressed that advantage, scoring four more runs in the second inning and tacking on another off a double from
Parker Ingram in the third inning for an 11-0.
USC Beaufort carded its first run in the fourth inning off a home run to right field. Augusta allowed the Sandsharks three runs in the fourth inning and one run in the fifth inning.
AU Jaguars scored six runs in the sixth inning.
Rushton Bowles,
Kyle Lodise, and
Jordan Wilkie all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
Logan Howell pitched the Jags to victory. The pitcher lasted seven innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out five.
Augusta socked three home runs in the first game of the day. Lodise had a homer in the sixth inning. Wilkie had a four bagger in the sixth inning. Bowles had a long ball in the sixth inning.
The Jags racked up 19 hits.

Jordan Wilkie all managed multiple hits. Aulds went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the team in hits.
Game 2 – Augusta 6 USC Beaufort 5
USC Beaufort struck first, using a home run to card a run in the second inning.
Parker Ingram hit a 2 RBI dinger in the bottom of the inning to take the lead.
Singles from Wilkie and
Mike Morrison in the third inning extended the lead to 4-1.
Both teams used singles in the fourth inning to add a run. The Sandsharks would use an error in the seventh inning to even the score at 5.
On the first Jaguar at bat of the eighth inning,
Jared Martin knocked a dinger over the right field fence for the narrow 6-5 AU victory.
Jordan Wilkie was 2-for-3 with 1 run and 1 RBI to lead the Jags.
On the mound,
JR Fordham got the start, pitching 4.2 innings. After
Dominic Canale tossed the next 2.0 innings out of the bullpen,
Brian Trepanier carded the win.
