FLORENCE, SC - The Augusta University baseball team fell 8-3 to Francis Marion on Tuesday evening in nonconference action. Augusta is now 17-16 while the Patriots move to 19-19 on the year.
Francis Marion opened up scoring in the first inning, hitting a sac fly to score one run. The Patriots followed it up with two more scores off singles.
In the top of the second inning, Augusta tied things up at three when
Mike Morrison hit a 2 RBI homer and
Pat Galvin drove in one off a single.
Francis Marion pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning, tacking on three more in the eighth inning.
Brian Trepanier started the game for AU, allowing three hits and three runs.
Logan Howell tossed the next 1.2 innings.
Brandon Byler (1-1),
Cody Shieder, Tuner Sircy,
Aedan Cates, and
Dominic Canale all saw time pitching in relief.
Gavin Wright went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Jags in hits.
Augusta returns to action this Thursday when they travel to USC Aiken for a Thursday doubleheader.
