AUGUSTA, GA- The Augusta men's basketball team lost to No. 10 North Georgia, 80-66, at Christenberry Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon. AU is now 9-9, 2-6 PBC and North Georgia is now 16-2, 7-1 PBC.

Augusta played most of the first half with a slight lead. The Jags shot over 50% from the field, but North Georgia was able to pull ahead and go into the half with a 40-37 lead. 

The Nighthawks came out hot in the second half, extending their lead to 11. The Jaguars fought back, and cut the lead to three  on a David Viti three-pointer with 7:25 left to play. 

UNG secured the victory on a series of layups and jumpers, sparking an 11-0 run in the final six minutes of play. 

John St. Germain III was the most efficient Augusta shooter with 13 points on 4-of-7 from the field. Demitri Gardner and David Viti both had 16 points in the loss. 

Max Amadasun had a double-double for Augusta with 10 points and 10 rebounds. 

Frank Champion led North Georgia with 21 points. 

Augusta goes on the road to Georgia College on Wednesday, Jan. 31. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
