COLUMBUS, GA – The Augusta University men's basketball dropped a heartbreaker in overtime to the Columbus State Cougars Saturday afternoon. The Jags fell 91-87 and moved to 7-5, 0-2 PBC while Columbus State improved to 8-3, 2-0 PBC.

Five different Jaguars were in double-figure scoring.
Demitri Gardner led Augusta with 27 points, two steals, five rebounds, and four assists.
Maximillian Amadasun registered his eighth double-double of the year with 15 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.
David Viti added 14 points and five rebounds.
Ja'Queze Kirby had 13 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double of his own. Freshman John St. Germain, playing his highest number of minutes this season, scored 11 points.
The Cougars got out to an early 9-4 lead, but a three-pointer from St. Germain III brought Augusta within 1four minutes into the fame. Columbus State's leading scorer Wisdom Udoh answered with a triple of his own. Back-to-back threes from Kirby and Viti evened the score at 16-16. Both teams traded buckets before a 9-2 home team run gave Columbus State a seven-point lead with five minutes left in the first half. An answering 8-0 Jaguar run evened the score at 37-37. CSU held a four-point advantage at halftime.
Columbus State led for the majority of the second half, leading by as many as nine points before a fast break layup from St. Germain III sparked an 8-1 Augusta run that brought the score to 65-64 with three minutes left in regulation. A layup from Amadasun tied the game at 72 with just over a minute to play. CSU's Udoh buried a three with 1:03 left on the clock, but an answering triple from Viti knotted the score at 75-75 and sent the teams to overtime.
St. Germain III opened overtime with a made three-point basket, but untimely fouls from AU sent the Cougars to the free throw line 11 times. Columbus State would go on to win 91-87.
Augusta hosts Clayton State on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 7:30 pm. The game will serve as the annual 'STUFF THE STADIUM – TEDDY BEAR TOSS' Game.
