SAINT AUGUSTINE, FL – The Augusta University volleyball team (11-4, 1-2 PBC) fell short in a tightly contested five-set match against Flagler College (7-9, 3-2 PBC) at Flagler Gym. Despite battling hard throughout, the Jaguars lost 3-2 (17-25, 25-15, 16-25, 25-17, 11-15).
Flagler took control early, winning the first set 25-17. Augusta responded with a dominant 25-15 win in the second set, led by strong hitting from
Sophia Kruczko and
Madelyn Eden. However, Flagler reclaimed the momentum with a 25-16 victory in the third set. The Jaguars battled back in the fourth set, forcing a fifth set after a 25-17 win, but ultimately fell short in the deciding set, losing 15-11.
Kruczko led Augusta with 13 kills and a .500 hitting percentage, while
Jada Suguturaga contributed 7 kills and 4 blocks.
Madelyn Eden and Abigail Levines each added 5 kills, while
Giulia Rodrigues led the defense with 17 digs.
Marin Freeland chipped in with 6 kills and 3 blocks.
Augusta hit .185 for the match, while Flagler hit .150. Both teams fought through several ties and lead changes in a competitive and hard-fought battle.
The loss drops Augusta to 11-4 overall and 1-2 in Peach Belt Conference play.
Next Match: Augusta will face Emmanuel College in non-conference action.
