FRANKLING SPRINGS, GA – The Augusta University volleyball team (12-4, 1-2 PBC) secured a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Emmanuel University (13-8, 10-0 Conference Carolinas) at the Shaw Athletic Center. The Jaguars took the match with set scores of 25-19, 21-25, 25-16, and 25-20.
Augusta came out strong in the first set, hitting .229 to take a 25-19 win, but Emmanuel responded by taking the second set 25-21. The Jaguars rallied back, dominating the third set 25-16 behind the hitting of
Jada Suguturaga and
Sophia Kruczko. Augusta sealed the win with a 25-20 victory in the fourth set, securing their 12th win of the season.
Kruczko led the Jaguars with 11 kills and a .321 hitting percentage, while Suguturaga added 10 kills and 7 blocks, hitting .455.
Madelyn Eden contributed 9 kills and 4 blocks, while
Marin Freeland tallied 11 kills.
Giulia Rodrigues anchored the defense with 22 digs, and
Janvier Buggs led the team with 21 assists.
Augusta hit .237 for the match compared to Emmanuel's .172. The Jaguars played a well-rounded game, with strong contributions from both their offense and defense.
Next Match: Augusta returns to action on Friday, October 25, 2024, at home against Flagler College at 6 p.m. as they resume Peach Belt Conference play.
