WILMINGTON, NC- The Augusta University men's golf team now sits in 12th place after two rounds of the Williams Cup presented by STITCH Golf hosted by North Carolina. On the day, the Jaguars were +15 and are now +28 for the tournament with the final round coming up on Tuesday. Arizona State (-7) has a two-shot lead over North Carolina (-5) and a three-shot lead over Auburn (-4). Those three programs are the only teams under par.
On the individual front,
Stefan Jacobs is the low AU golfer at +3 and in a tie for 22nd place. Jacobs shot a -1 (71) in a round that featured four birdies and three bogeys. Playing the back nine first, he had a bogey on his third hole, but rebounded two birdies in the next three holes. Jacobs shot an even-par 36 on the front nine to give him his final tally.
Bo Blanchard II was Mr.Consistent to start his round as he carded eight straight pars. The final two holes of his round led to his undoing, but still managed a 75 and is now +4 overall and in a tie for 26th place. His 75 followed a 73 in the opening round.
Dean Wilken (77) and
Mason Fundingsland (80) accounted for the two other team scores.
The third and final round is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 22 with tee times starting at 8:15 a.m.
