AUGUSTA, GA – The Augusta University volleyball team (12-5, 1-3 PBC) was edged out by Flagler College (8-9, 4-2 PBC) in a close four-set match on Friday night at George A. Christenberry Fieldhouse. Despite a strong start, the Jaguars fell 3-1 with set scores of 25-21, 13-25, 26-28, and 24-26.
Augusta took the opening set 25-21, led by efficient hitting from Sophia Kruczko, who finished the night with 13 kills and a .481 hitting percentage. However, Flagler rebounded in the second set, winning 25-13. The third and fourth sets were intense, with multiple ties and lead changes. Despite late rallies by the Jaguars, Flagler clinched both sets, winning 28-26 and 26-24.
Kruczko led Augusta offensively with 13 kills, while Jada Suguturaga added 8 kills and 4 blocks. Marin Freeland contributed 8 kills, and Janvier Buggs paced the Jaguars with 21 assists and 11 digs. Libero Giulia Rodrigues anchored the defense, recording 13 digs.
Augusta hit .119 for the match compared to Flagler's .206. The Jaguars fought hard in the extended third and fourth sets but were unable to secure the win.
