Augusta Athletics Sets Record with Highest GPA in Program History

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University athletics department achieved a record-breaking departmental GPA of 3.32 for the Fall 2024 semester, the highest semester GPA in program history. This marks a continued legacy of academic success, with all but one team earning a 3.0 GPA or higher.
 
"Our student-athletes continue to be leaders in the classroom and we are extremely proud of their academic achievements," said Director of Athletics Ryan Erlacher. "We certainly appreciate all the efforts behind the scenes with our coaches, academic advisors, and leadership making sure our student-athletes have what they need to be successful. Those investments are elevating every aspect of our program, and academic excellence is certainly one we are prioritizing and celebrating."
 
The Jaguars combined for a 3.32 overall grade point average for the fall semester. There were 42 student-athletes with a 4.0 GPA in the fall. 125 student-athletes had a 3.5 or higher, and 212 recorded a 3.0 or higher. Over 75% of Augusta student-athletes earned a semester GPA of 3.0 or higher. 14 out of 15 teams registered a 3.0 GPA or higher.

  • Top Overall Team: Women's Golf - 3.68 GPA
Top Men's Teams:
  • Men's Tennis - 3.64 GPA of
  • Men's Cross Country - 3.40 GPA
  • Baseball - 3.38 GPA
Top Women's Teams:
  • Women's Golf - 3.68 GPA
  • Women's Tennis - 3.55 GPA
  • Volleyball - 3.47 GPA
"Our student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom and in their sport, setting the standard for excellence," said Associate AD for Compliance and Administration Christina Whetsel.

All but one Augusta University team posted a GPA of 3.0 or higher, reflecting a department-wide culture focused on academic student-athlete development. These results demonstrate the Jaguars' continued pursuit of excellence, reinforcing Augusta University Athletics' commitment to fostering future leaders both in competition and beyond.
