AUGUSTA, GA - The Augusta University baseball team scored 17 runs in the first game of a doubleheader sweep of Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon. The Jags went on to win the second game of the day 3-1. Augusta improves to 3-4 for the season. The Jags will travel to Emmanuel on Tuesday, Nov. 13 for a single game at 4:00 pm.

Game 1
Kyle LaRoche drove in five runs on three hits to lead AU. LaRoche hit a 3 RBI home run in the second inning, a sac fly to score another in the fourth inning, and an RBI single in the sixth inning.
Kentucky Wesleyan got on the board first with a solo homer in the first inning. A home run from LaRoche gave AU a 3-1 lead at the bottom of the second inning.
Augusta exploded for a huge fourth inning, scoring nine runs.
Jordan Wilkie drew a bases-loaded walk for a single run and
Dylan Wanat singled for two runs.
Kyle Lodise and
Parker Ingram were also walked for single runs.
Newcomer
Brady Loughren triples, scoring three runs and LaRoche hit a sac fly to score the final run of the inning.
Five more Jaguar home runs crossed the plate in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 17-3. Lodise hit a solo home run to left field, LaRoche hit a 1 RBI single, and
Nolan Turner homered to left field for three runs.
AU accumulated 15 hits in the game. LaRoche and Loughren both tallied three hits while
Koby Ayala, Wanat, and Turner had two hits each.
Will Cantrell led things off on the mound, giving up six hits and three runs in his five innings of work. Cantrell struck out five batters before
Landon Skeen and
Gavin Zoeller combined for three scoreless innings.
Game 2
While the second day of the game was slower, AU took the 3-1 victory in seven innings.
Mike Morrison opened scored with a double that plated one run.
Kyle Lodise homered to left field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and capping Augusta scoring for the day.
Grayson Hopkins (1-1) pitched the full seven innings, only allowing two hits.
Morrison and Loughren anchored the offense with two hits each.
