MELBOURNE, FL –The Augusta University baseball team collected 11 hits in Saturday's rubber match loss to Florida Tech. AU fell 4-6 to the Panthers.
The Jaguars are now 4-7. Florida Tech improves to 6-5. Augusta will host Fairmont State at home at Jaguar Field Feb. 23-24.
Augusta got on the board in the first inning off a single from
Harrison Aulds. Florida Tech flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second inning, scoring five runs in four hits to take a 5-1 lead.
After Florida Tech tacked on one more run in the sixth inning, Augusta showed fight, scoring three runs in the seventh inning.
Dylan Wanat singled through the left side to score
Brady Loughren.
Kyle Lodise also singled through the right side, driving Wanat and
Trevor Maddox home.
Jude King (1-1) started on the mound for AU. After 1.2 innings,
Logan Howell tossed the next 3.2 innings in relief. Howell allowed five hits for one run while knocking down one.
Josh Green and
Brandon Byler both saw time pitching in relief.
The Jaguars turned in 11 hits. Aulds was 3-for-5 with 1 RBI while Wanat was 2-for-4 with 1 RBI and 2 runs. Lodise carded one hit for 2 RBI.
