Box Score 2 AUGUSTA, GA – The Augusta University baseball team collected 16 hits and 20 runs in a double-header sweep of Fairmont State. Augusta was dominant in the first game of the series, taking a 17-6 win over Fairmont State.
AU got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after
Koby Ayala singles, scoring one run.
Brady Loughren then tripled, scoring three runs and
Jordan Wilkie lined out to drive in another run.
A double by
Dylan Wanat and a single by
Harrison Aulds helped the Jaguars extend their lead in the third inning.
In the eighth inning, Wanat homered to right field, pouring in three more runs. Wanat was an offensive force, going 2-for-4 with 4 runs and 6 RBI. Loughren was another spark, going 3-for-4 with 3 runs and 3 RBI.
Ayala and Aulds each collected multiple hits. Collectively, the Jags were able to steal three bases.
Mason Bernard (2-0) picked up the win for AU. In his 9 innings of work, the senior ae allowed 9 hits while striking out 5 batters.
Marshall Flowers tossed the final 3.0 innings, only allowing 2 hits and 2 runs.
The second game of the day got off to a much slower tempo. Both teams were scoreless until an error from the visiting catcher gave AU a run in the third inning. In the fourth inning, a sac fly from
Gavin Wright scored Loughren. After the visiting team scored off a single in the fifth inning, Lodise was able to capitalize on a wild pitch for the third AU score of the game.
