AUGUSTA, GA- The Augusta men's basketball team defeated Columbus State, 70-62, to improve to 11-9 overall and 4-6 in conference play on Saturday afternoon. Augusta will travel to Clayton State on Wednesday, Feb. 7. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

Augusta jumped out to an early 21-11 lead, but it didn't last long as Columbus State stormed back to take a 35-34 halftime lead.
Out of the half, the Jaguars jumped on Columbus State after two three-point plays, the first by David Viti and the second by Demitri Gardner to take a 46-37 lead. The Jaguars would extend their lead to 12, but Columbus State went on a run to make it 57-52. Augusta proved to be too much down the stretch holding onto an eight-point victory.
The Jaguars were led by Demitri Gardner once again who had 20 points on 50% shooting and grabbed a career-high eight rebounds.
Three more Jaguars scored double figures, John St. Germain III (14), Ja'Queze Kirby (12), and Maximillian Amadasun (10).
Amadasun led the Jaguars on the boards with nine rebounds, while totaling three steals.
Columbus State was led by Wisdom Uboh who had 23 points.
