Morrow, GA- The Augusta men's basketball team defeated Clayton State, 82-78, to improve to 12-9 overall and 5-6 in conference play on Wednesday night. Augusta will travel to USC Aiken on Saturday, Feb. 10. Tipoff is set for 3:30 p.m.

Clayton State came out of the gate on fire, scoring 21 points in the first nine minutes of the game. The Jaguars were able to keep pace scoring with them, trailing by only five points.
The Jaguars would take a 37-36 lead, but it didn't last long. Clayton State led 46-39 at the break.
The second half started out with more of the same. Clayton State continued to knock down three-pointers, but the Jaguars continued scoring and putting pressure on them. TAU took its first lead of the half with 9:35 remaining in the game thanks to Ja'Queze Kirby's layup.
Clayton State kept things knotted up and both teams were tied at 70. John St. Germain III and Max Amadasun both made a layup on back-to-back possessions extending their lead to 74-70, from here the Jaguars were able to hold on to get another conference win.
The Jaguars are now tied for fifth place in the PBC standings.
Demitri Gardner led the Jaguars in points with 23, he shot 3-for-4 from behind the arc. Ja'Queze Kirby followed with 17 points. John St. Germain III was right behind him with 11. He also had five assists.
Max Amadasun totaled six rebounds to lead the team.
