AUGUSTA, GA– The Augusta University baseball team dropped a midweek contest to Erskine College, 10-4, on Tuesday afternoon.
Erskine's Josean Sánchez led off the contest with a solo home run, taking a 1-0 lead.AU answered back in the bottom half, when Kyle Lodise scored on an error made by the pitcher, the RBI went to Mike Morrison.
Erskine scored two in the second, both runs being walked in. The Jaguars' Parker Ingram got things tied back up in the third with a two-run home run.
No one would score again until the sixth inning when Erskine scored three runs, giving them the 6-3 cushion.
Augusta tried to fight back when Dylan Wanat singled, driving in Kyle Lodise, and cutting the deficit to 6-4.
Erskine put things out of reach in the eighth inning when their first baseman Dale Francis, Jr. hit a grand slam, taking a 10-4 lead.
The Jags were unable to answer, dropping their fourth straight to start the season.
Logan Howell started this one, going 1.2 innings giving up three runs, walking three, and striking out two.
Six more Jaguars would make an appearance on the mound with Britt Kelly going the longest. He went 3.1 innings allowing only one hit and striking out two.
Parker Ingram had the best day at the plate for the Jaguars going 3-for-4 while driving in two. Dylan Wanat went 2-for-4 in the loss.
The Jaguars will host Kentucky Wesleyan for a 3-game set beginning on Friday, Feb. 9-Feb. 11. Game one begins at 5:00 p.m.
