AUGUSTA, Ga – Parker Ingram hit two home runs and drove in five runs in Augusta baseball's series-opening defeat of Kentucky Wesleyan Friday evening. The Jaguars defeated the visiting Panthers 9-0 for their first win of the season.
Games 2 and 3 of the series will be played on Saturday, Feb 10. The doubleheader will begin at 1:00 pm.
Ingram homered in the first and seventh innings for AU. His bomb over the left field fence scored three runs for AU in the first inning. In the fourth inning, a single from
Dylan Wanat combined with a throwing error from Kentucky Wesleyan resulted in two more scores.
The Jags carded two more runs in the bottom of the seventh after another home run to left field by Ingram. Augusta piled on two more runs off errors in the eighth inning for a 9-0 victory.
Mason Bernard started things off strong on the bump. He,
Mason Crozier, and Bradon Byler combined to throw a shutout, striking out six batters in the process. Bernard allowed three hits over seven innings and struck out five batters with only one walk.
AU amassed nine hits in the game.
Kyle Lodise,
Dylan Wanat, and
Mike Morrison each collected multiple hits for the home team. Lodise stole two bases during the contest while
Nolan Turner had one. The Jags didn't commit a single error in the field.
