BLUFFTON, S.C.– The Augusta University baseball team swept their double header against USC Beaufort on Sunday, March 24, 6-2 and 6-1 . The Jaguars improved to 18-12 on the season. AU is currently second in the PBC with an 8-3 conference record.
In game one, the Jaguars scored five runs in the third and rode that throughout. Those five runs came courtesy of Harrison Aulds, Zach Kwiatokowski, Kyle Laroche and Jake Vachon.
USC Beaufort cut the lead to 5-2 in the seventh inning, but Kyle Lodise added insurance for the Jaguars in the ninth inning as he drove in Koby Ayala.
Britt Kelly came in, in the ninth and closed it out for the 6-2 victory.
The Jaguars got a brilliant start from Mason Bernard, who went seven innings allowing only one earned run on four hits, dropping his season ERA to 3.95.
In game two, the Jaguar bats stayed hot as they tallied three runs in the first inning thanks to a three-run home run off the bat of Parker Ingram.
Augusta added another run in the fourth inning off the bat of Vachon and another in the fifth on a Brady Loughrensingle.
USCB answered with one of their own in the fifth.
In the eighth, AU knocked in another on a Kwiatokowskisingle and the Jaguars held their lead through the next two innings for another conference series win.
Will Cantrell was dazzling on the mound going the entire game allowing only one run and striking out 11 batters.
The Jaguars will go for the sweep of USCB on Monday, March 25.
