MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga - The Augusta University softball team dropped a doubleheader to Georgia College on the road Saturday afternoon. The Jags are now 14-4 overall, 4-13 PBC while Georgia College improves to 20-17, 4-10 in conference play. The two teams are set to face off in the final game of the series on Saturday, March 30 at noon.
After the home team scored in the bottom of the first inning off a single in Game 1,
Paige Patterson hammered a solo homer to right field to even the score.
Lauren Barrett gave Augusta the 2-1 lead after scoring on a passed ball.
Georgia College knotted the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the inning. The Bobcats went on to score two runs in the fifth and two runs in the sixth to take the game 6-2.
Patterson led, going 1-for-2 with 1 RBI.
Grace Bridges also registered two hits.
Madalyn Spinks (5-6) got the start on the mound, tossing 5.0 innings. Senior
Alissa Bolinger tossed the final inning.
In the second game of the day, AU would score a single run in the first after
Lauren Slade advanced to third base on the throw.
The Jags went on to drop the game 9-1 in five innings.
Bobbi Poff and Cadence Winder carded the only two hits of the game.
Hannah Turner (2-5) got the start for the Jags.
Ansley Gibson faced the final two batters.
