AMERICUS, Ga - The Augusta University baseball team defeated Georgia Southwestern 9-8 in the first game of a three game PBC road series.
After getting down 2-0 early, Augusta scored their first run of the game with a solo homerun by
Dylan Wanat in the second inning.
Brady Loughren hit a two RBI double to give Augusta a 3-2 lead in the third inning.
Parker Ingram and
Dylan Wanat tacked on two more runs in the inning, hitting a RBI double and single.
Kyle Lodise extended Jaguars lead to 6-2 with a solo home run in the fourth inning.
The Hurricanes battled back in the bottom of the seventh inning after scoring oring six runs off four hits to take a 8-6 lead.
Kyle Lodise hit a single to tie the game 8-8 in the top of the ninth inning.
In the top of the 11th inning,
Harrison Aulds hit the game-winning RBI single, scoring
Trevor Maddox.
Kyle Lodise led the Jaguars with four hits and two RBIs.
Dylan Wanat and
Zach Kwiatkowski also finished with three hits each.
Mason Bernard pitched three innings in the start for Augusta, striking out three batters and giving up two runs off five hits.
Britt Kelly earned the win in relief, only giving up one hit and striking out one batter.
Augusta will play the second game of the PBC road series at Georgia Southwestern on Saturday at 1 p.m.
