AMERICUS, GA – After the second straight day of extended weather delays, Georgia Southwestern defeated the Augusta baseball team 11-6. Georgia Southwestern in 32-14, 15-9 PBC. Augusta is 23-22, 12-12 in the conference, and headed into its final PBC regular-season series for the year. The Jaguars will travel to Flagler April 26-28.
After
Kyle Lodise opened the game with a double and stolen base,
Brady Loughren reached on a fielder's choice that scored Lodise in the first inning.
In the second inning, with runners on second and third, AU scored on a wild pitch for a 2-0 lead.
After scoring a single run in the second, the home team evened the game with a home run in the bottom of the fourth inning.
In the top of the fifth, a 2 RBI double from
Parker Ingram again gave AU the edge, but the Hurricanes answered with a 2 RBI single of their own in the fifth inning.
After Georgia Southwestern added three runs in the sixth, a single from Laughren brought the score to 5-7. A massive seventh innings for GSW saw them score four runs.
A solo homer from
Parker Ingram in the bottom of the ninth was the last score of the game.
Parker Ingram did the heavy lifting, going 3-for-5 with 3 RBI and one run, including a home run and a double. Loughren was 1-for03 with 2 RBU, while Luke Shain went 2-for-3.
Gavin Wright started for the Jags, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out four batters in 4.1 innings of work.
Grant Lester (0-2) pitched the next 1.1 innings before five other AU pitchers saw time in relief.
