SAINT AUGUSTINE, FL – The Augusta University baseball team dropped a narrow 13-12 game to Flagler College on Friday night. Augusta is not 23-23, 12-13 in conference play. The Jags are set to take on the Saints on Saturday, April 27. The first pitch is slated for 6:00 pm.
Augusta got on the board early, plating a run off a sac fly in the first inning. After the Saint evened the score in the bottom of the inning, a double from
Kyle Lodise to left center field scored
Koby Ayala and
Mike Morrison for a 3-1 Augusta led.
Another double from
Kyle LaRoche in the top of the third inning extended the lead to 5-3. A 2 RBI single in the fourth inning narrowed the lead, but another sac fly from Lodise gave AU a two-run edge headed into the seventh inning.
With bases loaded in the seventh, Ayala was hit by a pitch from Flagler's Callahan for a run. After allowing AU to walk in another run,
Harrison Aulds sac fly pushed the Jaguar lead to 9-4.
An AU error in the bottom of the seventh inning sparked a six-run swing, which saw the home team take a 10-9 lead. Flagler tacked on another run in the eighth inning.
After two walks,
Parker Ingram hit a bomb over the left field fence to take a 12-11 Augusta lead. Steady offense from Flagler gave the Saints a walk-ff victory.
Lodise was 1-for-2 with four RBI and one run to lead the Jaguar offense.
Mike Morrison also had a big night, going 3-for-4 with three tuns. Ingram drove in three runs off one hit in his five at-bats.
Kyle LaRoche added two RBI with his two hits.
Will Cantrell started on the mound. In his 6.2 innings, he allowed 12 hits and struck out four batters.
Grant Lester,
Samuel Davis,
Marshall Flowers, and
Britt Kelly (3-2) all pitched in relief.
