AUGUSTA, GA - The Augusta University softball team fell to the No. 1 seed North Georgia Nighthawks on Friday in the first round of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament. The Jaguars will face either Aiken or Flagler on Saturday at 2:00 pm in the double elimination tournament.

Down 2-0 in the third inning, a walk from
Grace Bridges was followed by a single from
Lauren Slade to right field, putting two runs on base, but the team could not push across any runs on the No. 8 team in the nation.
A huge fifth inning saw the host team take a 7-0 lead. In the top of the sixth inning, a single from Bridges and a walk was followed by a single through the left side from
Bobbi Poff. The Jags again threatened with three runners on base, but two strikeouts retired the side. An RBI single to center field from the Nighthawks ended the game 8-0.
Bridges, Slade, and Poff each registered a hit in the game.
Ansley Gibson (5-8) pitched the first 5.0 innings, striking out two batters.
Madalyn Spinks faced the last three batters of the game.
