DAHLONEGA, GA- The Augusta University baseball team took a narrow 5-4 loss to the University of North Georgia. The two teams face off in the third and final game of the series on Sunday, April 7 at 1:00pm.
In the second inning, Dylan Wanat singled to right field to score Nolan Turner for an early Augusta advantage. The home team added two runs in the fourth inning and one run in the fifth to lead 3-1. Both teams added a single run in the sixth inning.
In the seventh inning, the Jags tallied a run off a bases loaded walk before Koby Ayala knocked a solo homer in the top of the eighth inning to even the score at 4-4. The Nighthawks would score the winning run off a single to center field in the same inning.
Ayala was 2-for-4 with 1 RBI to pace Augusta offensively. Will Cantrell got the start for the Jags, pitching 6.0 innings. Griffin Stewart and Logan Howell (1-2) both saw time pitching in relief.
