Jaguars sweep second day of Pacer Invitational to remain unbeaten

GRANITEVILLE, S.C.– No. 25 ranked Augusta University women's volleyball closed out the Pacer Invitational with  commanding 3-0 wins over Francis Marion and Carson-Newman on Saturday at the Convocation Center.

With the victories, Augusta extended its perfect start to 6-0.

AUGUSTA 3 FRANCIS MARION 0

Madelyn Eden led the Jaguars' offense with 9 kills and hit .389 for the match. Jada Suguturaga added 5 kills while contributing 4 service aces and 6 blocks. Jacklyn Simms also tallied 7 kills, hitting .250. Janvier Buggs directed the offense with 15 assists and chipped in 2 service aces, while Giulia Rodrigues led the defense with 12 digs.

Augusta took a close first set 25-23, but quickly gained momentum in the second set, winning 25-8 behind strong serving from Suguturaga and Buggs. In the third set, the Jaguars maintained control, closing out the match with a 25-17 victory.

Overall, Augusta hit .179 for the match with 34 kills and 15 errors on 106 total attacks, while Francis Marion struggled offensively, hitting -.041 with 20 kills and 24 errors. Augusta also out-blocked the Patriots 12 to 10.

AUGUSTA 3 CARSON-NEWMAN 0

Marin Freeland paced the Jaguars with 13 kills, hitting .370, while Simms tallied 9 kills. Mikayla Kline and Eden each recorded 7 kills, with Eden posting a .429 hitting percentage. Buggs contributed 19 assists and a service ace, and Rodrigues had a team-high 16 digs.

In the first set, Augusta took control, claiming a 25-20 win. The second set saw a tight battle, featuring seven ties and multiple lead changes, but the Jaguars managed to edge out a 27-25 victory. Augusta carried that momentum into the third set, securing the match with a 25-17 triumph.

The Jaguars hit .230 for the match with 48 kills and 17 errors on 135 attacks. Carson-Newman finished with a .104 hitting percentage, registering 34 kills and 22 errors on 125 attacks. Both teams recorded 6 blocks.
