CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Augusta women's cross country team turned in a strong performance Friday at the Royals Cross Country Challenge hosted by Division I Queens University, placing fifth in the Women's Blue 5K and seventh in the Women's Gold 5K heats.
Results
In the Blue race, freshman Caleigh Munro paced Augusta with a 15th-place finish in 19:54.04. Senior Cheyenne Ryan followed close behind in 17th at 19:57.80. Sophomore Ansley Graddy crossed in 20:33.50, with sophomore Sophia Cook finishing in 20:38.12 to secure the Jaguars' top four. Freshman Carlee Hodges rounded out the scoring five in 21:46.57. Additional Augusta finishers included Devan Howard (22:08.29), Jupiter Boers (22:51.46), and Ari Paine (24:01.97).
In the Gold race, senior Madison Thomas led the Jaguars with a time of 18:01.91 to place 19th overall. Junior Maria Biondollilo followed in 28th with a time of 18:18.68. Junior Danielle Thayer (18:51.37), freshman Gabriella Burton (18:58.39), and freshman Josabeth Graciano (19:06.70) rounded out Augusta's scoring five. Also competing were freshman Amelia Ogden (19:08.70), senior Swaye Mohler (19:13.47), freshman Elkin Regina (19:36.41), senior Grace Gyetko (19:46.54), sophomore Gabby Jourdain (20:17.63).
The meet featured a highly competitive field of Division I and II teams, giving Augusta valuable late-season racing experience ahead of the postseason.
The Jaguars return to competition on Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Peach Belt Conference Championships in Milledgeville, Ga.
