AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta volleyball collected two wins on Saturday, sweeping rival USC Aiken in Peach Belt Conference play before handling Shaw in a non-conference matchup to improve to 15-3 overall and 5-0 in the league.
The Jaguars started the day with a decisive 3-0 victory over USC Aiken (25-20, 25-16, 25-21), controlling the match from start to finish. Augusta's defense held the Pacers to a .098 hitting percentage while totaling 11 team blocks. Lauren Nelson led the attack with 14 kills on .320 hitting and added two service aces, while Sofiia Snitsarevych chipped in nine kills and four block assists. Mia Saavedra dished out 14 assists and recorded a service ace, and Giulia Rodrigues posted 10 digs in the backcourt. Augusta's front line was a difference-maker throughout, with Shackelford and Snitsarevych combining for seven block assists.
In the second game of the day, Augusta stayed sharp in a 3-0 sweep of Shaw (25-17, 25-19, 25-21). The Jaguars' offense was efficient, hitting .298 as a team while holding the Bears to just .077. Snitsarevych once again led the way with 10 kills on a .444 hitting percentage, while Shackelford and Layne Witherspoon each added seven kills. Lauren Posa contributed six kills on .462 hitting, and Saavedra distributed 19 assists to guide a balanced offense. Rodrigues anchored the defense with 13 digs, and the Jaguars tallied eight team blocks to control the net.
With the wins, Augusta remains unbeaten in Peach Belt play. The Jaguars return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 14, when they host Georgia College in a Peach Belt matchup at 7 p.m. in Christenberry Fieldhouse
