AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta volleyball continued its strong Peach Belt Conference start with a straight-set win over Georgia College on Tuesday night, taking the match 25-18, 25-17, 25-21 inside Christenberry Fieldhouse. The Jaguars improved to 16-3 overall and 6-0 in conference play with the victory.
The Jaguars' offense was in control from start to finish, hitting .307 as a team and outpacing the Bobcats in every statistical category. Lauren Nelson was dominant at the net, finishing with a match-high 19 kills on .342 hitting while adding four service aces. Setter Mia Saavedra efficiently directed the attack with 26 assists and added nine kills of her own on an impressive .421 clip.
Augusta's balance was on full display throughout the lineup. Layne Witherspoon contributed seven kills and two blocks, while Angela Mateos and Sofiia Snitsarevych added five kills apiece. The Jaguars also controlled the back row, led by libero Giulia Rodrigues with 18 digs, and limited Georgia College to a .144 hitting percentage.
At the net, Augusta's block made a significant impact, finishing with eight team blocks and holding the Bobcats to just seven kills in the second set. The Jaguars built momentum as the match progressed, hitting .379 in the third set to close out the sweep.
Augusta returns to Peach Belt play on Friday, Oct. 17, when the Jaguars host Georgia College. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
