Augusta, Ga. - The men's golf team from Augusta University will be teeing it up against some of the best competition this fall at the Willams Cup Presented by STITCH golf. The tournament in Wilmington, N.C. will run Oct. 19-21 with 18 holes each day. The field includes six ranked teams including No. 1 Utah, No. 5 Auburn and No. 12 North Carolina. 

Jaguar golfers Bo Blanchard II and Stefan Jacobs both registered top 20 finishes a year ago in the event. Jacobs is coming off a strong showing at the Bash at the Boro earlier this week. Coach Steven Paine hopes Jacobs' performance gave him a good boost of confidence. 

"He's kind of been struggling a little bit, and him being one of our best players, it was important for him to kind of get his mojo back," said Paine. "He's obviously worked on a lot of things and going to a big event this week,I think he should take a lot of confidence from that."

Team wise, Augusta could use a solid finish as they still haven't seen the starting lineup put it all together for events. Paine said a lot of that goes to "silly mistakes" that can be corrected. 

"We've got to tighten those things up and I think the guys have a good understanding of what they need to do. I feel like we're practicing all the right things and I think this could be a good turning week for us." said Paine.
