AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta volleyball extended its unbeaten start to Peach Belt Conference play with a five-set victory over Georgia College on Friday night, taking a 25-14, 23-25, 25-15, 23-25, 15-6 win inside Christenberry Fieldhouse. The Jaguars improve to 17-3 overall and 7-0 in league play.

Augusta controlled the opening set from the start, hitting .314 and holding the Bobcats to just eight kills. Georgia College answered in the second, using a late surge to even the match. The Jaguars responded with their most efficient frame of the night in the third, posting a .379 hitting percentage and building a double-digit lead to regain the advantage. The Bobcats forced a deciding fifth set with a narrow win in the fourth, but Augusta closed the match with a dominant final frame, hitting .346 and winning five of six side-out opportunities.

Lauren Nelson paced the attack with 20 kills and three service aces, while Mia Saavedra added 19 kills on .362 hitting along with 29 assists. Layne Witherspoon finished with 11 kills and eight digs, and both Sofiia Snitsarevych and Lauren Posa chipped in nine kills apiece. Setter Sydney Harrington distributed 25 assists and contributed defensively with nine digs.

The Jaguars' work at the net proved decisive. Augusta finished with 15.5 total team blocks, led by Snitsarevych and Angela Mateos combining for 13 block assists. Giulia Rodrigues tallied a team-high 24 digs as Augusta's back row limited second-chance opportunities and kept the Bobcats' offense off balance throughout the night.

Augusta returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 21, traveling to Francis Marion for a 7 p.m. non-conference matchup.
