MACON, Ga. – Augusta volleyball continued its dominance in Peach Belt Conference action Thursday night, defeating Middle Georgia State 3–1 on the road to stay perfect in league play. The Jaguars improved to 18–4 overall and 8–0 in the PBC.
Augusta controlled the match from the start, opening with a 25–15 win in the first set and holding off a late Knights push to take the second, 25–23. Middle Georgia capitalized on a few Augusta miscues to claim the third, but the Jaguars responded with a decisive 25–17 finish in the fourth to seal the victory.
Sofiia Snitsarevych led the way with 15 kills and three blocks, while Layne Witherspoon added 14 kills on a .379 hitting percentage and four total blocks. Angela Mateos continued her strong play in the middle, finishing with 10 kills on a .529 clip. Setter Mia Saavedra notched a double-double with 10 kills and 29 assists, and Sydney Harrington added 23 assists and two aces.
Libero Giulia Rodrigues anchored the defense with 17 digs, as Augusta limited Middle Georgia to a .167 hitting percentage while posting 62 kills, 10 blocks, and a .200 team average.
Augusta returns home on Saturday, Oct. 25, hosting Middle Georgia in a non-conference matchup at 1 p.m. before facing Lees-McRae at 5 p.m. in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
