AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University volleyball team continued its strong season with a 3–1 victory over UNC Pembroke on Tuesday night inside Christenberry Fieldhouse. The Jaguars improved to 21–4 overall and remain unbeaten in Peach Belt Conference play at 9–0 heading into a pivotal road weekend at Flagler.
Augusta dropped the opening set 25–18 after a slow start but quickly found its rhythm. The Jaguars responded with a balanced attack in the second frame, hitting .357 as a team and using a 6–1 run midway through the set to pull away for a 25–20 win. In the third, Augusta's defense came up with several key stops at the net to edge the Braves 25–23, then finished the match with a 25–19 decision in the fourth set.
The Jaguars hit .194 for the match while holding UNC Pembroke to a .171 clip. Augusta also totaled 16 team blocks, eight service aces, and 75 digs across the four sets.
Mia Saavedra continued her consistent play, turning in a double-double with 12 kills on .300 hitting to go with 24 assists, 20 digs, and an ace. Layne Witherspoon was equally effective, registering 12 kills on .310 hitting and contributing three blocks.
Sofiia Snitsarevych added 10 kills and seven blocks, while Angela Mateos provided a steady presence in the middle with six kills and three blocks. Lauren Posa chipped in four kills, and setter Sydney Harrington handed out 19 assists with two aces and six digs.
Giulia Rodrigues paced the backcourt with a match-high 21 digs and also contributed five assists, while Hunter MacFarland added 14 digs and three aces in a solid all-around effort.
Augusta's combination of timely blocking and back-row coverage proved decisive, limiting UNC Pembroke's offense in key stretches of the final three sets. The Jaguars closed the match on a dominant 9–2 run in the fourth frame to secure their 21st victory of the season.
Augusta now turns its focus to conference play, traveling to St. Augustine, Florida, for critical Peach Belt matchups at Flagler on Friday, Oct. 31, and Saturday, Nov. 1.
