AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta women's basketball improved to 2-0 with a 67-63 win over Barton on Saturday afternoon at Christenberry Fieldhouse. Barton drops to 0-2 on the year.

The Jaguars set the tone early, building a 19-6 lead after the first quarter and taking a 35-23 advantage into the locker room. Augusta maintained control in the third period to go up 53-42, then withstood a late Barton push in the fourth to finish off the four-point victory.
Quinasia Abercrombie turned in another efficient outing, posting 15 points on 6-for-7 shooting to go with eight rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and two steals. Cierra McGinlay added 14 points and knocked down four three-pointers, while Sierra Burns finished with 12 points, two rebounds, two steals, and a made three.
Off the bench, Sa'Niah Dorsey provided nine points, three boards, and two assists in 19 minutes of action, and Olivia Martin contributed seven points on 2-for-4 shooting and a 3-for-3 mark at the line. Elyse Autrey totaled eight points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals, and Chloe Ross chipped in two points and two rebounds.
Augusta finished with a 38-32 edge on the glass and an 11-8 advantage in offensive rebounds, resulting in nine second-chance points. The Jaguars outscored Barton 26-18 in the paint and received 18 points from the bench unit. Both teams committed 17 turnovers; AU converted Barton's into 12 points, while the visitors turned Augusta miscues into 13 points.
Barton was led by Layne Sleight's game-high 22 points, including three three-pointers and a 7-for-8 effort at the free throw line. Cyntiah Braden added 13 points off the bench, and MaKayla Noble scored 12.
