Augusta Edges Flagler 56–53 in Peach Belt Opener

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta men's basketball opened Peach Belt Conference play with a 56–53 win over Flagler on Wednesday night at Christenberry Fieldhouse. The Jaguars move to 5–5 overall and 1–0 in league play, while Flagler drops to 3–4 and 0–2 in the PBC.

Augusta carried a 24–21 lead into halftime after holding Flagler to 32.0 percent shooting and 2-for-7 from three in the first 20 minutes. The Jaguars continued to find answers offensively in the second half, shooting 44.4 percent from the floor and 5-for-12 from beyond the arc after the break. Flagler closed the gap to one possession in the final minute, but Augusta came up with the necessary stops and secured the rebound on the Saints' last three-point attempt as time expired.

Elias Palsson led Augusta with 16 points and eight rebounds, adding two blocks and one steal in 35 minutes. Luis Nonfon anchored the interior with 10 points and a game-high 15 rebounds, including three on the offensive glass. Matias Zanotto contributed five points and three rebounds, while Rodney Scott chipped in four points, four assists, and two steals from the backcourt.

Off the bench, Tobias Prall provided nine points, three assists, and one steal in 29 minutes, hitting three three-pointers. TJ Baker added a key spark with seven points, one rebound, one assist, and one steal, going 3-for-6 from the field. Camryn Pacheco knocked down a three-pointer and finished with three points in 12 minutes of action.

Both teams finished with 28 points in the paint and four second-chance points, while Flagler held a narrow 35–34 edge on the glass. Augusta forced 13 turnovers and converted them into 12 points, getting 19 points from its bench.
