Box Score Hartsville, SC - The Augusta University men's tennis team secured a close 4-3 victory over Coker University on Thursday in a competitive road matchup.
Coker took the early lead by sweeping all three doubles matches. Enzo Garutti and Alexis Bailhache narrowly fell 5-6 at No. 1 doubles, while Leonardo Costa and David Perret dropped a 5-7 decision at No. 2. The duo of Mario Curiel and Humberto Pinto also came up short, losing 4-6 at No. 3 doubles.
Despite the doubles setback, Augusta responded in singles play. Garutti dominated his No. 1 singles match with a 6-1, 6-2 win, while Bailhache battled through a three-set thriller to earn a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 victory at No. 2. Pinto delivered a strong performance at No. 4 singles, winning 6-1, 6-2, and Arthur Valette sealed the match with a commanding 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6.
Coker picked up wins in the No. 3 and No. 5 singles spots. Perret fought hard but fell 2-6, 7-5, 0-6 at No. 3, while Enzo Sakiyama was defeated 5-7, 2-6 at No. 5.
