AUGUSTA, Ga - After tying the game at four in the seventh inning, Augusta baseball was unable to take the lead and succumbed to Kentucky Wesleyan, 14-4, on Saturday at Jaguar Field. AU drops to 1-6 on the year, while the Panthers improve to 2-0.
Parker Ingram and Wyatt Talik each collected two hits for Augusta, with Ingram, Mike Morrison, and Nolan Turner picking up RBIs.
The Jaguars jumped out to an early lead in the second inning, with Ingram tripling for the second straight game and driving in Turner for the first run. Morrison then reached on an error, plating Ingram for the second run of the game.
Kentucky Wesleyan took a 4-2 lead into the seventh inning before Augusta responded. Talik scored on a wild pitch, followed by a sacrifice fly from Turner that brought Gavin Wright home with the fourth run.
The Panthers controlled the final two innings to secure the victory.
Augusta and Kentucky Wesleyan will conclude the series Sunday afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for noon.
