Orangeburg, S.C. - In dominating fashion, Augusta University swept Claflin on Saturday to complete the three game series sweep of the Panthers. The Jaguars had 17 hits and scored 21 runs in the game one victory 21-3. They followed that up with a 13-3 victory in game two. With the wins, AU is now 5-7 in Peach Belt Conference play, 8-19 overall. Claflin is 0-8 in the PBC and 5-17-1 overall.
GAME ONE
In the opener,
Parker Ingram hit a grand slam homer and a two-run shot to lead the offense. He finished the game with six RBI and a pair of runs scored.
Roland Chance also had a big game as he hit a homer for the second straight day, collected three hits, drove in four runs and scored three times.
Eli Overstreet also homered in his lone plate appearance.
The Jaguars wasted little time in jumping all over the Panthers and led 9-0 after just two innings of play. They would add 11 more runs in the next four innings and cruised to the victory.
Jake Vachon also had a big game with three hits and two runs scored and
Nolan Turner had three hits, three RBI and a run scored.
Zach Kwiatkowski didn't collect a hit but he did score four times in he blowout victory.Â
On the mound,
Jagger Iovinelli collected the win with five innings of five hit ball. He struck out four batters to pick up his first victory of the season.
GAME TWO
In the nightcap, the bats stayed hot in wrapping out 15 hits and picking up the 13-3 win. Seven different Jaguars collected at least two hits on the game. AU smashed five homers to complete the series sweep.Â
Ingram got the scoring going with a first inning double that would plate
Mike Morrison with the first run of the game. Kwaitkowski would bring around Ingram on a RBI single making it 2-0.Â
The Jaguars would blow it open in the middle innings as
Matthew Thigpen hit a two-run homer in the fourth. Then, in the fifth, Vachon woud crack a three-run shot.Â
The home runs would continue to fly with a seventh inning shot by Ingram, another in the eighth by
Aidan Cannaday and then Turner unloaded with a two-run blast to cap off the scoring in the ninth. Both Ingram and Vachon collected three RBI to cap off their impressive days at the plate.
The Jaguars hit the road on Wednesday to Belmont, N.C. as they are set to take on Belmont Abbey in a 5 p.m. battle.
