MILLEDGEVILLE, GA- The Augusta University baseball team collected five hits but came up short against Georgia College, falling 8-2 Sunday afternoon to wrap up the three-game series. The Jaguars are now 2-4 in Peach Belt Conference play and 4-16 overall, while the Bobcats improve to 3-0 in conference and 9-10 overall.
Georgia College put up five runs in the third inning to take control. Augusta got on the board in the fifth when Ty McClintock reached on an error, stole second and third, and scored on a fielder's choice by Nolan Turner.
The Jaguars added another run in the eighth. Turner, who had a strong series, led off with a single and moved to second when Parker Ingram walked. With the bases loaded, Wyatt Talik drew a walk to bring in Turner. Turner finished 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
Luke R. Barch started on the mound, going six innings with seven strikeouts. Elijah Durnell followed with a scoreless inning, adding a strikeout.
Augusta will travel to Franklin Springs, Ga., on Tuesday to face Emmanuel University. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
