FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA.- Seven different Augusta players scored as the Jaguars picked up a 9-5 road win against Emmanuel University Tuesday evening. Augusta improves to 5-16 overall while Emmanuel drops to 8-12.
The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when AU plated three runs.
Roland Chance would reach on a fielder's choice that scored
Mike Morrison with the first run of the game. A bases loaded walk to
Jake Vachon would score a second run and then
Matthew Thigpen was hit by a pitch allowing the third run to touch home.
The Lions responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning, but the Jaguars would explode for four runs in the sixth to break the game wide open. Vachon doubled to start the frame and was followed by a Thigpen walk.
Nolan Turner then delivered a two-run double making it a 5-3 game.
Parker Ingram then unleashed his fifth homer of the season making it 7-3 Augusta.
AU added two insurance runs in the seventh. A pair of walks and a wild pitch would set the table for Morrison who delivered a two-run single giving the Jags their ninth run of the game.
Zach Kwiatkowski had three hits in the game as seven different Jags reached on a hit. AU also benefited from 11 walks issued by Emmanuel pitchers.
On the mound,
Ty Cobb got the start and went three innings, and gave up a pair of runs and struck out two.
Griffin Stewart picked up the win throwing one scoreless inning.
Augusta returns to Jaguar Field for a weekend series with Lander. Game one is on Friday at 6 p.m.
