Jags Drop Tough, Extra Inning Game to Lander

AUGUSTA, GA - Despite Augusta leading 8-3 heading to the eighth inning, Lander would rally for five runs to tie it and then scored twice in the 10th for the 10-8 win Friday night at Jaguar Field. The Jaguars are now 2-5 in Peach Belt Conference play and 5-17 overall. Lander improves to 3-1 in conference and 14-6 overall.

Parker Ingram hit a two-run homer in the first, his sixth homer of the year. Two innings later, Mike Morrison would also smack a two-run shot staking AU to the early 4-0 lead. 

Lander would get two runs in the fifth, but the Jaguars would answer in the seventh. Matthew Thigpen would be hit by a pitch to start the inning. He would move to third on a Nolan Turner single. Ingram would lift a sacrifice fly making it 5-3 Jaguars. Aidan Cannaday would single and advance on an error. Nolan Turner would score on the play making it 6-3. Then, Rushton Bowles would come through with a two-run double to right making it 8-3. 

But the Bearcats would respond with three runs in the eighth, two more in the ninth and then scored the winning runs in the 10th.

The Jaguars had 10 hits on the game with Thigpen, Morrison, Cannaday, Bowles and Jake Vachon collecting two hits apiece. 

On the mound, Caleb Bohn started and went 4.2 innings giving up three runs. Bowles stranded eight runners on base. Griffin Stewart pitched two solid innings before running into trouble in his third inning out of the bullpen. 

Augusta and Lander will play game two of the series Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. at Jaguar Field.
